Robyn Rihanna Fenty was born on February 20, 1988, in Saint Michael, Barbados. Discovered by American record producer Evan Rogers, she moved to the United States at age 16 to pursue a music career. Her demo tape impressed Jay-Z, who signed her to Def Jam Recordings. Rihanna’s debut single, “Pon de Replay,” and her first album, “Music of the Sun,” released in 2005, brought her initial fame. However, it was her third album, “Good Girl Gone Bad,” and its hit single “Umbrella” that catapulted her to international stardom.
