Larry Ellison was born on August 17, 1944, in New York City, USA. He dropped out of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and later the University of Chicago before moving to California in the late 1960s. In 1977, Ellison co-founded Software Development Laboratories (SDL), which later became Oracle Corporation. Oracle developed a revolutionary database management system that quickly gained popularity and positioned the company as a leader in the software industry.
