Sergey Brin was born on August 21, 1973, in Moscow, Russia. His family emigrated to the United States in 1979 to escape anti-Semitic persecution. Brin earned his undergraduate degree in computer science and mathematics from the University of Maryland and went on to pursue a Ph.D. in computer science at Stanford University. It was at Stanford that he met Larry Page, with whom he would later co-found Google.
