Martin Garrix, born Martijn Gerard Garritsen on May 14, 1996, in Amstelveen, Netherlands, began his journey in music at a young age. He developed an interest in DJing and music production in his early teens and was inspired by fellow Dutch DJ Tiësto. Garrix’s big break came in 2013 when he released the single “Animals” at the age of 17. The track became a massive hit, topping charts worldwide and establishing Garrix as a prominent figure in the electronic dance music (EDM) scene.
