After leaving Blackburn Rovers in 1996, Lowe had short stints at West Bromwich Albion, Birmingham City, and Wigan Athletic before retiring from professional football in 2000. Following his retirement, Lowe transitioned into coaching and has held various coaching positions at clubs such as Wigan Athletic, Cardiff City, Birmingham City, and Nottingham Forest.
