After high school, Pola-Mao committed to play college football at the University of Southern California (USC). During his time at USC, he made a name for himself as a hard-hitting safety who could also make plays in coverage. In his senior year, Pola-Mao recorded 53 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 touchdown, solidifying his status as a top prospect for the NFL draft.
