Johnson began his career in the major leagues in 1997 when he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Throughout his career, he also played for the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Indians, and Boston Red Sox.
