Fortson began his football career in college, playing for the University of Georgia Bulldogs. During his time at Georgia, he developed a reputation as a dominant force on the defensive line, recording numerous sacks and tackles for loss. His standout performances caught the attention of NFL scouts, leading to his selection by the Miami Dolphins in the 2017 NFL Draft.
