Winfree began his football career in college, playing for the University of Maryland before transferring to the University of Colorado. He was selected in the 6th round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos, where he spent his rookie season. He later joined the Green Bay Packers before signing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2021.
