Slovis began his football career at Desert Mountain High School in Arizona, where he excelled as a quarterback. He went on to play college football at the University of Southern California (USC), where he continued to impress with his skills on the field. In his freshman year at USC, Slovis threw for over 3,500 yards and 30 touchdowns, earning himself the Pac-12 Freshman Offensive Player of the Year award.
