Kirkwood began his football career at Temple University where he played college football for the Temple Owls. He went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft but was signed as an undrafted free agent by the New Orleans Saints. During his time with the Saints, Kirkwood played in 9 games, recording 13 receptions for 209 yards and 2 touchdowns.
