Mostert began his football career in college, playing for Purdue University. After going undrafted in the 2015 NFL Draft, he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles. He later had brief stints with the Miami Dolphins, Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns, New York Jets, and Chicago Bears before finding a more permanent home with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016.
