Rush began his football career at the University of Cincinnati, where he played for the Bearcats from 2011 to 2015. During his time at Cincinnati, Rush showcased his skills as a formidable force on the field, tallying up impressive stats and earning recognition for his outstanding plays. After graduating from college, Rush went undrafted in the NFL but was signed as a free agent by the Philadelphia Eagles in 2016.
