Werner began his youth career at VfB Stuttgart before making his professional debut for the club in 2013. He quickly established himself as one of the brightest prospects in German football and was transferred to RB Leipzig in 2016. During his time at RB Leipzig, Werner became one of the most prolific strikers in the Bundesliga, scoring 95 goals in 159 appearances.
