Wilson was a standout athlete in high school, excelling in both football and basketball. He went on to play college football at Brigham Young University (BYU), where he quickly became the starting quarterback for the Cougars. In his junior year at BYU, Wilson had a breakout season, throwing for over 3,600 yards and 33 touchdowns.
