After retiring from playing, Makélélé transitioned into coaching, where he quickly established himself as a respected individual coach. In 2019, Makélélé returned to Chelsea FC as an individual coach, where he is responsible for mentoring and developing young talent. His experience and knowledge have been invaluable to the club.
