Waldock began his football career at Sheffield United, where he came up through the youth ranks before eventually making his senior debut for the club. He spent several years at Sheffield United, honing his craft and developing as a player. Waldock then went on loan to clubs such as Matlock Town and Gainsborough Trinity, gaining valuable experience and game time.
