Cadden began his professional career at his local club, Ayr United, where he made his debut in 2013. He quickly caught the eye of scouts with his impressive performances and was signed by Motherwell FC in 2015. Cadden spent three successful seasons at Motherwell, making over 100 appearances for the club and scoring 11 goals.
