Sinclair began his football career at Bristol Rovers, where he played for the youth team before moving to Chelsea in 2005. He spent several years at Chelsea, but struggled to secure a regular first-team spot. During his time at Chelsea, Sinclair was loaned out to several clubs, including Plymouth Argyle, Queens Park Rangers, Charlton Athletic, Crystal Palace, Birmingham City, and Wigan Athletic.
