Dua Lipa was born on August 22, 1995, in Westminster, London, the eldest child of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa and Dukagjin Lipa, who had fled Kosovo for London in the early 1990s. Her father, Dukagjin, had fronted a rock band in Pristina before moving into marketing, and music filled the family’s London home throughout her childhood. Her first name, Dua, means “love” in Albanian.

When Lipa was eleven, her family relocated back to Kosovo, and she spent several of her teenage years in Pristina before making the decision to return to London alone at fifteen to pursue a career in music. She attended the Sylvia Young Theatre School and later the Performers College, and began building an early profile modeling and posting cover songs to YouTube while still a teenager.

Lipa signed with Warner Music in 2014 and released her debut single, “New Love,” in August 2015, followed by “Be the One” that October. Her self-titled debut studio album arrived on June 2, 2017, and produced a run of hit singles including “Be the One,” “IDGAF,” and “New Rules,” which topped the UK singles chart and reached number six in the United States. The album’s success carried her to the 2019 Grammy Awards, where she won Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording (for her collaboration with Silk City, “Electricity”) — the breakthrough that established her as a major international pop act.

Lipa’s second studio album, Future Nostalgia, was released in March 2020 to widespread critical acclaim and produced a string of global hit singles, including “Don’t Start Now,” “Physical,” and “Levitating.” The album earned six nominations at the 2021 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, and won Best Pop Vocal Album — cementing Future Nostalgia as one of the most successful pop records of the decade. She followed it with her third studio album, Radical Optimism, in May 2024, which topped the charts in twelve countries, became the biggest album debut by a UK female artist, and reached number one on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart in the United States. Alongside her music career, Lipa has taken on acting roles, including a cameo as a mermaid in the 2023 blockbuster Barbie and a supporting role in the 2024 spy comedy Argylle.

Industry trackers place Dua Lipa’s annual earnings — combining touring income, streaming and record royalties, sponsorship deals, and business ventures — in the tens of millions of dollars during peak touring years. Her income has scaled dramatically since the release of Future Nostalgia in 2020, with major world tours, brand partnerships, and the launch of Service95 all adding new revenue streams on top of her recording career.

Lipa’s recorded music catalog has generated billions of streams worldwide, with Future Nostalgia and Radical Optimism both charting at or near number one in multiple countries. Touring has become an equally significant revenue source: her Future Nostalgia Tour ran from February to November 2022, playing 91 shows across North America, Europe, South America, and Oceania to a reported 1.3 million fans and grossing over $101 million at the box office. The follow-up Radical Optimism Tour ran from November 2024 to December 2025, spanning 81 shows across arenas and stadiums worldwide and further expanding her global touring income.

Lipa has become one of the most in-demand faces in fashion and beauty. She signed a multi-year partnership with Puma in November 2020, launched with a “Studio 2054” virtual performance and followed by several signature footwear and apparel collaborations. She has also served as the face of Yves Saint Laurent Beauty since 2019, fronting campaigns for its Libre fragrance and later its Loveshine lip collection. These deals sit alongside brand partnerships and countless magazine covers, all of which have added significantly to her earnings beyond music and touring income.

Beyond music, Lipa has built a genuine media business. In 2022, she launched Service95, a global style, culture, and society platform built around a widely-read weekly newsletter and an accompanying book club, which has grown into a standalone brand with its own advertising and partnership revenue.
