During his time at Michigan, Onwenu developed a reputation as a strong and reliable offensive lineman. His size, strength, and agility made him a valuable asset to the Michigan football team. In 2019, he was named to the All-Big Ten First Team and received an invitation to the Senior Bowl, where he further showcased his skills to NFL scouts.
