Before joining Birmingham City, Buchanan played for Derby County’s youth academy. He made his senior debut for the club during the 2018-2019 season and quickly established himself as a promising young talent. His impressive performances caught the attention of Birmingham City and he made the move to the club in the summer of 2021.
