Robins started his professional career at Manchester United, where he made his senior debut in 1988. He went on to play for several clubs including Norwich City, Leicester City, Manchester City, and Sheffield Wednesday. Robins also had spells at clubs such as Walsall, Rotherham United, and Burton Albion before retiring as a player in 2005.
