Pattinson was born in Barnes, southwest London, to Richard Pattinson, a vintage car importer, and Clare Pattinson, who worked at a modeling agency. He has two older sisters, Lizzy and Victoria. He attended the Tower House School and the Harrodian School in London, where he began acting through a local youth theatre group, Barnes Community Theatre, before landing early stage and TV roles as a teenager.

Pattinson’s first major screen role came as Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005). His career changed scale entirely in 2008 when he was cast as vampire Edward Cullen in Twilight, based on Stephenie Meyer’s novels. The franchise’s four sequels, released through 2012, turned Pattinson into one of the most recognizable young actors in the world and one of the highest-paid, with reports putting his combined Twilight earnings at roughly $70 million.

During the peak of the Twilight franchise, Pattinson reportedly commanded up to $12.5 million per film. His indie-era projects paid far less, often taken for the creative opportunity rather than the paycheck, but his return to blockbuster filmmaking with The Batman restored his earning power, with outlets reporting a seven-figure base salary for the first film plus a significantly larger deal for the sequel given the franchise’s box-office success.

Pattinson’s Twilight contracts escalated across the franchise as the films’ box-office performance proved itself, moving him from a relatively modest first-film fee to the reported $12.5 million-per-film range by the final installments. His Batman contract was reportedly more conservative up front by modern superhero standards, but The Batman Part II deal is widely reported to include a substantially increased salary reflecting the first film’s roughly $770 million global box office.

Pattinson has been the face of Dior Homme, the men’s fragrance and grooming line from Christian Dior, since 2013, one of the longest-running and most lucrative brand-ambassador relationships in Hollywood. Contract renewals have reportedly been worth around $12 million, and the partnership has expanded over the years into broader Dior menswear campaigns, making it a consistent, high-value income stream alongside his film work.

Unlike some peers, Pattinson has kept a relatively low profile on the business side, without a public portfolio of startups, spirits brands, or ownership stakes. His income remains concentrated in acting fees and the Dior partnership, along with occasional producing credits on smaller films he has chosen to support creatively.

Pattinson has owned residential property in the Hollywood Hills and Beachwood Canyon areas of Los Angeles for much of his adult career, alongside property connections in London tied to his English upbringing. He has generally kept his real estate holdings low-key and out of the press compared to many actors of his fame level.
