Oleksandr Usyk was born on January 17, 1987, in Simferopol, Ukraine. He had a highly successful amateur career, winning gold medals at the 2011 World Championships and the 2012 London Olympics. Usyk turned professional in 2013 and quickly established himself as a dominant force in the cruiserweight division.
