After retiring from professional football, Irvine transitioned into coaching and management. He has worked as a coach for several clubs, including West Bromwich Albion, Blackburn Rovers, and Sheffield Wednesday. In 2020, Irvine joined West Ham United as the assistant manager to David Moyes.
