Mahmoud Abbas (Palestine) – President

Throughout his career, Mahmoud Abbas has achieved numerous notable accomplishments and recognitions. In 1993, he played a key role in the Oslo Accords, which laid the foundation for peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). Abbas was a trusted advisor to the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and succeeded him as the Chairman of the PLO’s Executive Committee in 2004. In 2005, Abbas was elected as the President of the Palestinian Authority, a position he continues to hold to this day.
