In the 2020 NFL Draft, Highsmith was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round with the 102nd overall pick. He made an immediate impact in his rookie season, playing in all 16 games and starting five of them. Highsmith finished the season with 48 tackles, two sacks, and an interception.
