Thomas began his football career at the University of Georgia, where he played for the Georgia Bulldogs football team. He had an impressive college career, earning multiple accolades and awards for his performance on the field. In 2020, he declared for the NFL Draft and was selected by the New York Giants as the 4th overall pick in the first round.
