Zappe began his football career at Victoria East High School, where he excelled as a quarterback. He continued to play football at the collegiate level, starting at Houston Baptist University before transferring to Western Kentucky University. Throughout his college career, Zappe set numerous passing records and earned accolades for his exceptional play on the field.
