Urban began his football career playing college football at the University of Virginia. During his time at Virginia, he accumulated several impressive accolades, including being named to the All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2013. He was then selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
