York played college football at Louisiana State University (LSU), where he quickly became a standout kicker for the LSU Tigers. In his freshman year in 2019, York was named to the Freshman All-SEC Team and set an LSU record for the longest field goal made in a bowl game with a 53-yard kick in the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.
