Jones played college football at the University of Mississippi, where he started 22 of 38 games during his three-year career. He recorded 70 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, and six sacks during his time with the Ole Miss Rebels. His impressive performance in college caught the attention of NFL scouts, and Jones was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the sixth round of the 2017 NFL Draft.
