Ćaleta-Car began his professional career at the Croatian club Hajduk Split, where he made his debut in 2013. He quickly established himself as a key player in the squad and caught the attention of top European clubs with his impressive performances. In 2018, he made a move to the French Ligue 1 side Marseille, where he spent three successful seasons before transferring to Southampton FC in the summer of 2021.
