Johnson began his NFL career in 2018 after signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent. He spent two seasons with the Buccaneers, primarily playing on special teams and as a backup safety. In 2020, Johnson signed with the Los Angeles Rams and appeared in four games before being released. He then joined the Miami Dolphins practice squad in November 2020 and was promoted to the active roster later that season.
