Shelvey started his youth career at Arsenal before joining Charlton Athletic’s youth academy in 2001. He made his senior debut for Charlton in 2008 and quickly caught the eye of bigger clubs with his impressive performances. In 2010, he signed for Liverpool FC in a deal worth £1.7 million, where he went on to make over 60 appearances for the club.
