Gifford attended the Univ
ersity of Nebraska-Lincoln and played for the Nebraska Cornhuskers football team from 2015 to 2018. During his time at Nebraska, Gifford proved himself to be a talented player, showcasing his skills on the field as a linebacker. In 2019, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent and made his NFL debut later that year.
