After high school, Thornton went on to play college football at Baylor University. During his time at Baylor, he proved to be an invaluable asset to the team, showcasing his blazing speed and reliable hands. In his junior year, Thornton had a breakout season, recording 40 receptions for 824 yards and 9 touchdowns, earning him various accolades and recognition from the NFL scouts.
