Born on February 3, 1991, in Melun, France, Willy Boly is of French nationality. He began his professional football career at Auxerre in 2010, where he spent four seasons before moving to Portuguese club Braga in 2014. After a successful season at Braga, Boly was signed by Porto in 2016 but was loaned out to English club Wolverhampton Wanderers in the same year.
