Wilding began his football career playing in the youth academy of Nottingham Forest FC before moving to the senior team in 2010. He made his professional debut for Nottingham Forest in 2012 but struggled to secure regular playing time. In search of more opportunities, Wilding had loan spells at various clubs including Notts County and Mansfield Town.
