Makiessi was born on September 3, 1995, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He began his professional football career at a young age and has played for several clubs in Europe. Before joining Barnsley FC, Makiessi played for FK Teplice in the Czech Republic and FC Nordsjælland in Denmark.
