Ashmore began his football career in the youth academy of Millwall before moving on to play for various clubs in the lower divisions of English football. He had spells at Stevenage, Ebbsfleet United, AFC Wimbledon, Gosport Borough, and Dover Athletic before joining Boreham Wood in 2017.
