Wakelin began his professional career by joining Burton Albion’s youth academy at a young age. He quickly rose through the ranks and made his first-team debut for the club in 2013. Wakelin’s impressive performances for Burton Albion caught the attention of several clubs, and he was signed by Birmingham City in 2016.
