Paik began his professional career with his hometown club, Daejeon Citizen, in 2014. He quickly caught the attention of scouts from Europe with his impressive performances and was signed by La Liga giants, FC Barcelona, in 2015. During his time at Barcelona, Paik played for the club’s B team and also featured in the UEFA Youth League.
