Oakes began his career by playing for several youth teams in Birmingham before being scouted by professional clubs. He had successful stints at Walsall FC and Coventry City before ultimately signing with Burton Albion in 2017. His impressive performances for the club quickly earned him a spot in the first team, and he has become an integral part of Burton Albion’s midfield.
