Conklin began his football career at Central Michigan University, where he played for the Chippewas as a tight end. During his time at Central Michigan, he showcased his impressive athleticism and skills on the field, catching the attention of NFL scouts. In the 2018 NFL Draft, Conklin was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fifth round (157th overall).
