Häkkinen made his Formula One debut in 1991 with the Lotus team. After two seasons with Lotus, he moved to McLaren in 1993, where he would spend the rest of his Formula One career. Häkkinen quickly established himself as a top driver, winning his first Grand Prix at the 1997 European Grand Prix. He would go on to win a total of 20 Grand Prix races during his career.
