Toal began his football career at Derry City, where he progressed through the youth ranks before making his senior debut in 2016. He spent three seasons at Derry City, making over 50 appearances for the club. Toal’s impressive performances caught the attention of scouts, and he earned a move to Scottish side Ayr United in 2019.
