Thomason started his footballing journey at the age of eight, joining the youth academy of Bolton Wanderers. He quickly caught the eye of the coaches with his talent and dedication, eventually earning a spot in the first team. Prior to making his senior debut, Thomason had loan spells at Bamber Bridge and Longridge Town to gain valuable first-team experience.
