Alnwick began his professional career at Newcastle United, where he came through the youth academy. He made his first-team debut for the club in December 2014, starting in a league match against Chelsea. Alnwick spent four seasons at Newcastle, making 7 first-team appearances before going out on loan to clubs such as Bradford City, Port Vale, and Scunthorpe United.
